CarbonCloud is a SaaS company building digital infrastructure for calculating and communicating climate footprints for food and other consumables. The platform enables non-experts to perform detailed climate footprint assessments (life-cycle assessments) of their products at a fraction of the time and cost required for alternative solutions, while maintaning state of the art precison. This opens up for full-portfolio footprint assessments on a global scale. Network archetechture in the platform ensures improved assessments over time and an unpresidented tool for collaboration with suppliers, all the way down to agriculture. Data propagates op the value chain and incentives for climate improvements propagate the other downwards. All climate footprints on the platform are comparable with each other in a unique way that unlocks marketing potential in the shape of quanitative on-pack labels that conveys the climate performance of specific products, that can be used to differentiate products between competitors. CarbonCloud has, together with prominent customers such as Oatly, changed the landscape for climate labels towards something more and more expected to be found on pack for consumables. The platform and its labels make climate footprint transparence and performance become a driver for business. The company is a research spinn-off from Chalmers University of Technology, where prominient climate researchers teamed up with experts on SaaS and UX development. The company vision is to help the world take informed action to mitigate climate change, and this will be done by providing state-of-the art science and data in the hands of every decision maker along the complex value chains for food and other consumables, all the way from the farm to the end consumer.
