Your Role
As an AI Engineer, you will be at the heart of building, evaluating, and scaling the AI capabilities that power our platform. You will work across the lifecycle of AI agent development (from prototyping and prompt design to evaluation, deployment, and monitoring) ensuring our customers can ship reliable, production-ready AI experiences.
You will work with technologies such as Python, TypeScript, LLM orchestration frameworks, vector databases, RAG pipelines, evaluation suites, and observability tools. You’ll help shape how AI agents behave, perform, and evolve in real-world environments.
Your responsibilities will include:
Designing, implementing and refining AI agent behaviors (prompting, tools, memory, reasoning loops)Building and maintaining RAG pipelines, retrieval strategies, and model integration layersCreating automated evaluation and monitoring systems to guarantee reliability in productionDeveloping internal tooling to help teams prototype, test, and improve agent workflowsCollaborating with product and engineering teams to enable new AI-powered featuresStaying up to date with the latest advancements in LLMs, embeddings, multimodal models, and agent architecturesand bringing your expertise, curiosity, and creativity to push our AI capabilities further 🚀Ideal candidate
2–3 years of experience in AI Engineering Machine LearningStrong skills in TypeScript & Python, and familiarity with LLMs, RAG, or AI agent frameworksExperience evaluating models or building pipelines involving LLMs (personal projects count!)Ability to design reliable, deterministic behaviors on top of non-deterministic modelsComfortable working across the stack when needed (from data ingestion to API integration)Passion for building AI systems with a strong product mindset → shipping fast, iterating, learningIndependent, curious, and proactive → we love people who push the boundaries and propose improvementsAt Basalt, we seek pioneers who are motivated by challenges and excited about the possibilities of AI.
